This brochure of the Second Avenue Subway was one of the more difficult projects I tackled. It had a lot of information that spanned great distances, both geographically and temporally. The history of the Second Ave. line dates back to 1879 and will likely stretch into the 2020's, thus making the layout difficult in terms of a regular brochure. I decided to have the inside of the brochure read vertically instead of having shorter thin panels like is normally seen. But then creating a distinct hierarchy between the two components of the brochure, the construction plan and the time line–which were of similar sizes and shapes, proved to be a challenge, but one that was industriously overcome.
